The Edge of the Stream
To accompany Nadav Kander's latest series of work - 'Dark Line – The Thames Estuary', Nadav directed and performed in a specially created film - 'The Edge of the Stream'.
Projected on two suspended sheets inspired by Chinese scroll paintings, the 20 minute film shows Nadav Kander being slowly immersed in and rising from water. Widening out, flatting, slowing down, water gently distorts Kander’s face and evokes the never-ending cycle of life and death. The music, commissioned by German-British composer Max Richter, falls into the rhythm of slow-moving water and echoes the photographic series.
