Arctic Circle
Becoming aware of the silence within the Arctic Circle in the winter was secondary for me. I was standing on a frozen lake, alone and amazed at how concentrated and focused my seeing was. It was as if my panning of the details were in slow motion. I realized I was seeing without the normal distractions we are so used to; firstly clutter that is always around us, and then the noise we are accustomed to.
The resulting images started to resemble abstract etchings, simple dark lines against the white of the snow. Stillness.
